Tammy became familiar with the plight of the homeless right here in Bergen County through Julia Orlando, Director of the Bergen County, Health and Human Services Center.  The more she learned the more she wanted to help out.  Finally, the opportunity came when the Bergen County Homeless Shelter hosted "Homelessness Awareness Day" to share information about the plight of the county homeless and what Bergen County was doing to address the situation.  Tammy designed a cake that was shaped like a key and represented the 107 residents that had been placed in permanent housing or "home".  The cake had surrounding smaller keys that represented each of the agencies that support the homeless shelter making the larger key a possibility.

This Thomas Kinkade inspired gingerbread house was chosen to be shown on marthastewart.com in a gallery of one of their favorites.  Photo #6 in the slideshow.

The house was donated for a fundraiser that benefited the Institute for Educational Achievement  which provides educational services for students with autism.

The Rockettes made a stop at The Art of Cake to promote their upcoming 2011 show.  What an exciting day for all of those that came by for an autograph and picture.
The Art of Cake made it through all three rounds of Cupcake Wars, making a vanilla cupcake filled with plum spiced with white wine and brown sugar, and topped with a honey and orange cream cheese frosting; a pineapple upside-down cake with a graham cracker crust and topped with a rum flavored whipped cream; dark chocolate cake with cherries and chocolate ganache; and a strawberry champagne cake with champagne frosting.
